This shoe was worn by Grade I winning mare Winter Memories while residing at Darby Dan Farm as a broodmare. Winter Memories was victorious in the Grade I Diana Stakes, Grade 3 Beaugay Stakes, Grade I Garden City Stakes, Grade 2 Lake George Stakes, Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes, Grade 3 Appalachian Stakes, and Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes.
The oak plaque upon which the shoe is mounted is handmade by retired jockey, Jack Neagle, in the Darby Dan woodshop. The wood comes from a pin oak tree planted under the direction of E.R. Bradley (Idle Hour Farm - circa 1906) and recovered by Darby Dan Farm after a storm in 2009.
The plaque measures 7x11" and is equipped with a sawtooth hanging unit. Each mounted shoe is accompanied by a certificate of authentication from Owner John Phillips.
